  Do not let any of us discourage you; we were ALL in your position with YOUR PERSPECTIVE before we came to this forum for support.

  If you come away from this forum with only one idea; let it be that you should continue to educate yourself and keep your mind open; if you feel that the teaches of the Jehovahs Witnesses will benefit you and your loved ones--by all means pursue it.

  would you take out a morgage on your own home to build a church, not knowing whether or not you would be paid back?

  and what ever happened to the watchtower building fund for this purpose?

  as a full time pioneer; we had something similar. We took LONG coffee breaks and wrotes letters to leave at not-at-homes to keep counting time.

  and we ALWAYS made our hourly quota each month of 100 hours,,,

  National Geographic or Awake?

  with the imminent demise of the awake, being 'simplified' to a monthly journal; which monthly journal would be your magazine of choice - national geographical or awake?

  i read national geographic - it is well researched, it has fantastic photographs, and is printed on quality paper.

  with all the resources available to the wtbts, why hasn't the awake gotten any better?

  very nice.

  I have donated time to building houses with Habitat for Humanity; along with other architects and builders. They have built many houses for underprivledged people in the North East.

  It is not as "altruistic" as it sounds. In reality; many individuals have these low budget homes who would or could not have otherwise had them--or any other house for that matter.

  However; there is profit made by the builders; who use "free labor" "donated materials" to build these houses. Ultimately, those who live in them still have to pay money for them; what has been eliminated for them is a huge down payment ( how many middle class americans can afford a 20% down payment these days?)

  The only "freebie" in Habitat for Humanity is the "free labor" given to build these structures.

  internet advertising seem to be getting stronger again.

  presen economic situation for newspaper is not bright, they include the new york times, boston globe international, herald tribune gannett co., (100 newspapers including usa today), ew scripps (21 newspapers) dow jones & co./the wall street journal.

  yes, i still read them.

  a daily ritual in my home is that the family pet dog ( a black Lab) goes out to the edge of the driveway to retrieve the newspaper EVERY morning. The dog reminds us of her chores....and will not leave us alone until we let her perform this daily chore....

  great...now thats out of the way, i need you guys to do me a favour, i have been reading up on jws for the past three/four years, the people are pleasent enough and live fairly ordinary lives....some could say boring....(lets call up susie for a game of cards!!!!!

  i come here with a problem....my problem is simple and clear cut, it could even be summed up in one word..."hope".

  ...what does hope have to do with anything the JWs offer? Hope is not confined to their teachings alone...

  I left because; aside from being raised with the beliefs; I wanted more; I wanted a secular college education and THEY could not handle that!

  It is not a religion for strong minded individuals who can THINK for themselves.
